This Week's Best Bets — Picked by the House

August 13, 2026

Every week, the Housebets team picks the best bets across sports — football, basketball, UFC, tennis and more. Backed by crypto, no KYC, instant payouts.

The English Championship, LaLiga, the Turkish Super Lig, the Community Shield and Trophée des Champions are some of the biggest events set for another huge weekend of sports.

While we are still one week away from the return of the Premier League, Serie A and Ligue 1, the Community Shield and Trophée des Champions are curtain-raisers ahead of the new Premier League and Ligue 1 season.

Meanwhile, the Spanish top flight kicks off this weekend, although Barcelona and Real Madrid do not start their campaign until next weekend. This weekend is indeed full of football action that you can bet on at Housebets.

All the football games are available to bet on at Housebets, including the Community Shield and Trophee des Champions. Remember, Housebets remains the home of football betting this new season.

To place your bets on this weekend's football games, log in to your account (or create one if you don't already have one), deposit your preferred cryptocurrency, then go to the sports section to bet on these games and our picks.

With that said, here are our picks for this weekend.

Community Shield: Arsenal vs Manchester City

Our Pick: Over 2.5 Goals

The Community Shield takes centre stage in England this weekend as Arsenal take on Manchester City in the season’s curtain-raiser for the Premier League. It is a match between last season’s Premier League champions (Arsenal) and last season’s FA Cup winners (Man City).

The Community Shield serves as the final tune-up match for both sides ahead of the new Premier League season, but more importantly, it is a chance for one of these two teams to win their first silverware of the campaign.

While the trophy might not mean much in the grand scheme of things, the winner of this match gets to claim early bragging rights, given that both teams are expected to be embroiled in another title race.

Arsenal won the race last season, ending their 22-year wait for a league title. The Gunners are once again the favourites to retain their title and will want to lay down a marker by starting the new season with a win.

They have made a couple of improvements to their squad with the signings of players like Bruno Guimarães and Christos Tzolis. These players are quality additions and are expected to make their official debut on Sunday.

Arsenal do come into this clash in mixed form, after winning three and losing two of their five pre-season games. Mikel Arteta’s men did beat Como in their final pre-season game and will want to carry that momentum into the clash against City.

Man City’s situation is a little different to Arsenal's, as it is a new era for the Cityzens. This Community Shield clash will be the first one since 2015 that they will play without Pep Guardiola as their manager.

Guardiola left his role after ten years at the end of last season. Although the Cityzens’ board has brought in his former right-hand man Enzo Maresca to replace him, no one is sure what to expect from the team.

However, this clash gives Maresca the chance to instil early confidence, even though it is a long season. The former Chelsea manager has settled in well, as he knows a majority of the players.

He has also been backed by the City board, with the club paying a record fee to sign Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest. The results under Maresca in pre-season have been impressive, with his side winning their last two games, including a 3-1 win over Atletico Madrid.

City also come into this clash having won recent meetings, including the top-of-the-table clash in April and the League Cup final in March. However, despite losing one of their last five against Arsenal, they are still the underdogs, according to the odds.

The Cityzens are priced at 2.62 to win the game, while Arsenal are favoured at 2.54, according to odds from Housebets. However, considering this is not a high-stakes game, we figure there will be lots of goals, which is why we are backing over 2.5 goals at 1.85.

Trophée des Champions: Lens vs PSG

Our Pick: PSG win or over 2.5 goals

In France, they also have a Community Shield of their own, as RC Lens take on Paris Saint-Germain in this season’s Trophée des Champions. Lens won the Coupe de France last season, while PSG retained their Ligue 1 title.

Just like the Community Shield, the Trophée des Champions is an opportunity for either Lens or PSG to win silverware before the domestic season starts. For PSG, though, the Parisians already have one trophy in the bag after winning the UEFA Super Cup.

Luis Enrique’s men beat Aston Villa in Wednesday’s showpiece to claim the first trophy of the season and could secure their second with a win on Sunday night. In fairness, only PSG can stop themselves from winning on Sunday, as they are in a league of their own, not just in France but in Europe.

Enrique’s men have been the best team in Europe for the last two years, having won the last two Champions Leagues. They are also heads and shoulders above other teams in France and should be clear favourites to win on Sunday.

However, considering they played on Wednesday and most of their French players just returned from their extended World Cup break, this might be the best time for Lens to play PSG.

Les Sang et Or come into this clash with a new manager after Dino Toppmoller replaced Pierre Sage, who left for Crystal Palace in the summer.

Toppmoller will be eager to claim a scalp in this first official game in charge, which will definitely send a message ahead of the season. However, Lens lost their two meetings against PSG in the league last season and will be looking to end their run of four consecutive victories in the Trophée des Champions.

PSG are the favourites, though, with the Parisians priced at 1.72 to win the match, while Lens are valued at 4.60. This is a match we expect PSG to win or at least to have three goals, which is why we are going for a PSG win or over 2.5 goals, valued at 1.67.

LaLiga: Alavés vs Getafe

Our Pick: Under 2.5 goals

Barcelona and Real Madrid may not be playing this weekend, but LaLiga officially starts on Saturday, with Deportivo Alavés hosting Getafe in the first game of the season. Alavés finished 14th in the league last season but will be looking to improve on that this campaign.

However, if they are to do that, the Blue and Whites will have to be better at home, having picked up just 27 points from 19 games. Quique Sánchez Flores' men have been good in pre-season, though, winning three of their four games.

However, while they had a good pre-season, they face a Getafe side that is always difficult to beat. José Bordalás' men might have had a rough pre-season, winning just two of their pre-season friendly games, but they did finish seventh last season to qualify for the Europa Conference League.

One of the reasons why The Deep Blue Ones are hard to beat is that they do not concede a lot of goals. Last season, only Real Madrid and Barcelona conceded fewer goals than Getafe (38) in the Spanish top flight.

In fairness, this is a hard game to predict, but considering Getafe’s games are always cagey, under 2.5 goals at 1.34 seems like the right option here.

English Championship: Wolves vs Blackburn Rovers

Our Pick: Wolves win or Over 1.5

Wolves begin their journey to return to the Premier League with a home clash against Blackburn Rovers in the opening game of the English Championship. Wolves had a torrid campaign that saw them get relegated from the top flight last season but will be eager to go back on the first attempt.

They are one of the favourites to secure promotion, but they will need to start strongly at home against Blackburn. Although they have not been active in the transfer market, Wolves fans have huge confidence in the current players.

However, while Wolves are expected to start strongly, Blackburn will be no pushovers. Tony Mowbray’s men also have promotion aspirations of their own and will be eager to lay down a marker on Friday night.

They did have a rollercoaster pre-season, winning two and drawing three of their six friendly matches. If the Rovers do have promotion hopes, though, they will have to make a monumental jump from their position last season, having finished 20th in the league.

It is unlikely that it will start from the first game of the season, though, as Mowbray’s men are priced at 6.00 to earn an unlikely win. Wolves, meanwhile, are priced at 1.50 to get the win, while over 1.5 is priced at 1.20.

Primeira Liga: Sporting Lisbon vs Vitória Guimarães

Sporting Lisbon got off to a disappointing start in their league opener last weekend but will be eager to pick up their first win when they host Vitoria Guimaraes on Friday night. Rui Borges’ men started their campaign with a 2-2 draw at Vitória GuimarãesEstrela Amadora, which is not the perfect way to start a season for a team with title aspirations.

The good news for the Lions is that it happened on the first day of the season, but they cannot afford a repeat against Guimaraes. Sporting were in control for most parts of the game against Estrela before giving away a two-goal lead.

Nonetheless, Sporting will feel confident going into Friday night’s game, as they won 13 out of their 17 home games last season. They have also won 13 of their last 15 meetings with Vitoria at their home ground (D2), including each of the most recent nine, although encounters outside Lisbon have been less one-sided.

With that said, Guimaraes will not just lie down easy, as they are looking to bounce back from a disappointing 1-0 loss to Arouca. While Sporting have dominated this encounter at home, Guimaraes are unbeaten in three of their last seven meetings in all competitions against the Lions.

Nonetheless, Sporting are favoured at 1.26 to win the game, which is our pick, along with over 2.5 goals at 1.44, according to odds from Housebets.
